What do I do, and why do I do it?

When I was 10 years old, I crafted a business plan on the back of my school notebook, creating a strategy to sell pampering services at a local car boot sale. From hair brushing, to nail painting, I was ready to take the town by storm, becoming the go-to name for makeovers, starting in a small field in Cornwall and then, inevitably, I’d go global. I designed a menu, a flyer, and even a small sales spiel to attract my dream client. Admittedly, I may have misjudged the market slightly, and as it turns out there isn’t really a demand for beautifying at car boots, and my plan fell short.


And so, phase two. This time, I listened to the audience…my first jab at market research. And you know what I noticed? Friendships bracelets were the talk of the town. And so, I essentially started a solo sweatshop in my house, weaving fabric for hours a day and created some exquisite pieces that would have been showcased on the most prestigious of Etsy stores (not at all biased), and off I went to school.

When I envision my selling of these bracelets, I like to imagine myself with a huge long coat, with the items pinned to the inside, only visible when I flash the inner lining of the coat…you know, like a dodgy guy selling knock off watches in an alley.


In reality? I walked around with a backpack full of the darn things, managing to flog a good amount to classmates for 50p, or in one instance, a can of diet coke.


What I’m trying to say is that I have always had the entrepreneurial mindset, and that has got me to where I am now, harnessing my skillset to add value to people’s lives (friendship bracelets, of course, being the most valuable service to date).


I now get to help real life, grown up, actual businesses with their digital marketing strategy and social media game…and I LOVE IT.


It’s all very well doing what I do, but why on earth do I do it? Well, thank you friend for asking.
